Two Newark Men Charged with Drug Trafficking in Mass.

More than 1,000 bags of heroin found following traffic stop, police said

Two Newark men were among four people arrested in Massachusetts Friday and charged with transporting more than 1,000 bags of heroin, the Massachusetts State Police announced.

A state trooper was on a traffic stop in the town of Northampton when another vehicle passed by, officials said. The trooper reportedly observed several motor-vehicle violations and pursued the vehicle, stopping it in the nearby town of Hatfield.

State police said the driver, 23-year-old Tyler Robenstein of Colchester, Vt., did not have a valid license. During interviews with the three passengers, the trooper detected “evidence of illegal narcotics” and ordered a K-9 search, the state police also said. That search turned up 1,250 bags of heroin.
