Authorities are investigating a bank robbery Tuesday at the Valley National Bank on Bloomfield Avenue.
Just before 1 p.m. Tuesday, the suspect entered the bank at 22 Bloomfield Ave. and passed a note to the teller reading "Have gun. Give me money," according to Deputy Chief Mark Minichini of the Belleville Police Department.
The suspect made off with the contents of the teller's drawer and fled north on foot on Belmont Avenue. Exact proceeds have not been determined, Minichini said.
It is unclear how many people were inside the bank at the time of the robbery, but no one was injured, said Minichini.
He described the suspect as Hispanic, wearing a black knit cap with a gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
No arrests have been made.
The location of the bank, is known as tri-city because of its close proximity to Newark, Bloomfield and Belleville.
The incident is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
