Booker Lands Major Democratic Party Role

Newark's mayor will help formulate party platform

Reports of Newark Mayor Cory Booker’s death as a player in national Democratic Party politics have apparently been greatly exaggerated.

Booker, along with Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts and others, has been selected to help craft the party’s platform for the next four years , the National Journal reported today. The mayor, who has fans from coast to coast thanks to his attention-grabbing exploits and huge following on Twitter, will help chair a committee advising delegates to the Democratic National Convention being held in Charlotte, N.C. Sept. 3.

In May, Booker angered many in the party by defending presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s career with Bain Capital, which was the subject of recent attack ads put out by the campaign of President Obama. Booker made the remarks on NBC’s “Meet the Press”.

Shortly afterwards, The New York Post quoted an unnamed source within the Obama administration proclaiming that Booker was “dead to us.”

Yeah, give this Dem traitor a major Dem platform role cos' you are scarce of his criticism of Obama call to prosecute Wall Street hedgefund executives TRILLION DOLLARS FRAUD ON THE AMERICAN TAXPAYERS! Bet Booker will be well rewarded by his Wall Street supporters in his own next election campaign at the expense of the working class who have lost their homes, savings and jobs AND yet NO WALL STREET EXECUTIVES HAVE BEEN PROSECUTED SINCE 2008!!!!

Bain Capital invested more than half a million dollars in Cory Booker, and he earned his keep by throwing the Obama campaign under the bus on "Meet the Press." I'm scratching my head trying to figure out his appointment to the Dem platform committee. Perhaps to keep an eye on him less he get "nauseated" again.

Mayor Cory Booker is no different than President Obama. They both know how to "seize the moment"...by any means necessary.
Kelly Guerra July 13, 2012 at 09:22 PM
I would hardly call this appointment to the "Platform Committee" as major; I mean, who's ever even heard of this process!?! And the other members of this committee are either retiring or completely obscure! It's a far cry from actually giving a speech at the convention as was previously predicted for Booker! The Mayor has not been seen or heard from regarding the Presidential campaign and this confirms that Obama wants to keep Booker at more than an arms length!

Major Democratic Party role, fans from coast to coast? What happened to the role of Mayor of Newark. He has used Newark long enough to continue his climb up the political ladder. Our city is plagued with crime and our children are being cheated out of a decent education. Mayor Booker has a gift for gab but don't believe the words coming out of his mouth. NO MORE YEARS!

I say, give this man a chance. Booker seems to me would make a great President. He is a can do type of man. He is obviously fearless and willing to help and put everything on the line for his fellow neighbor and that is a good quality. Vote for him, if he runs.
Dewilla July 16, 2012 at 07:12 PM
If he runs, he's got my vote. Met him while attending Rutgers. The guy has common sense.
laura July 18, 2012 at 05:34 AM
I commend Booker for saving his neighbor but that doesn't make one a presidential candidate. There are many people in Newark that he might be able to save if he would involve some of the residents in his decisions. We already have a president who is fearless, compassionate, intelligent and yes, has common sense. He is also for all people, not just the rich. Whatever Booker's future plans are I wish him the best. However, our children need him to find ways to make our city safer and offer them quality education. No charter school which is a public school should be allowed to open in other public schools where those students are not afforded the same opportunities across the board.

booker is much smarter than obama. bain capital has financed many major improvements in newarks upgrade. he just did what any smart mayor should do. get the facts before you judge.. it just amazes me how many good people of color defend obama all he is is a yuppy in black skin.

Laura, you are on something to think this obamination is a fearless and compassionate and intelligent man. This moronic muslim pig is a crook and it shows here that he pulled the wool over your dumb eyes. He has done nothing but destroy jobs and even any opportunity for any jobs. He came up with an insurance plan that no body in their right mind wants any part of. I think you need t get off that WACKY WEED you've been smoking. This idiot is a disgrace to real Americans everywhere.
VietNam Vet July 19, 2012 at 03:43 AM
Jim, I have to agree with you on that. Thats why any smart black person won't vote for him again.
laura July 20, 2012 at 12:45 AM
Wow! That's what happens when the truth is told. I think Newark Patch is a great way to voice our opinions. Also, I think if one wants to bring someone over to their way of thinking, rule out name calling. Nothing was said about the violence in Newark or the lack of adequate eduacation, only what I think of the President. This economy was in trouble when Obama became president. How can he improve it if everything he brings to the table is knocked down? Ummm, who's been smoking wacky weed because I sense some memory loss here.
laura July 20, 2012 at 02:15 AM
Mispelled education:)
VietNam Vet July 20, 2012 at 03:58 AM
No laura, there is no memory loss with me, thats the problem I remember very well maybe to much. I know the economy wasn't real good but this idiot only took a bad situation and made it much worse when he bailed out GM, I would have let them go under. If it was my business hat was in trouble there is no way they would have help me or any one else. He has done everything to hurt business and prevent business from hiring anyone. I remember that when he took over the Gas prices were about $1.69 a gallon, not where is it? And he has already said in the past he didn't care if the gas went up to $ 10.00 a gallon, only now that its hurting his chances is he concerned. When George W. Bush was President and we paid about $85.00 a barrel the gas was about $2.00, with this idiot the oil is at $85.00 a barrel but look at where the gas prices are. I also know that when Bush was in and the gas went up to $ 3.50 everybody was going crazy over that, but with this jerk the gas goes up to 3.89 and you except that, no problem!!! Tell me something isn't wrong with that picture. You can't have it one way for one and another way for this jerkface idiotic moron. He still hasn't released his REAL birth Certificate, and NOW there is total proof that the one he did release is a fake. They got the woman in charge of these things and she said it is not real, there is no record anywhere, the coding system is all wrong on the one he showed last year.

laura stop worring that I may have mispelled something, sometimes my finger hits the wrong keys but keep on the facts, this idiot you think is your idol is a walking nightmare for good Americans everywhere. Learn the real truth and stop listening to the democraps lies they love to spread. They will stop at nothing to discredit anyone just to win, including{ now that it has come out} they have been registering even dogs and cats to vote with absentee ballots as well as dead people. Above you said that everything he brings to the table gets voted down, how can that be? His own party controls things and the GOP can't get a bill past because the dems won't let it. They are in the majority, so its his own party that is holding everything up, get the REAL facts lady.
laura July 20, 2012 at 04:35 AM
When I said mispelled education I was speaking about me. I am for President Obama and so is Corey Booker. Continue to see things your way and vote in November, I will.
laura July 20, 2012 at 04:46 AM
Look at the time, it was typed before your comment. Your comments sound as if you are angry with me for my opinions. Again, I believe in President Obama and it has nothing to do with his color, it has to do with his integrity. Goodnight.
