Lonegan Claims Booker is Not a Newark Resident

Booker campaign brushes off allegation as voters prepare to head to the polls Wednesday

The Republican candidate for US Senate charged Monday that Mayor Cory Booker does not live in the city, NJ.com reported.

Steve Lonegan held a brief press conference outside the Hawthorne Avenue home Booker has claimed as an address for several years.

“Who is Cory Booker?” Lonegan said. “Can you trust him? Where is he from? Where does he live? I propose that he doesn’t even live in Newark.”

But Booker’s camp dismissed Lonegan’s charge as a “Hail Mary pass” tried on the eve of an election in which Lonegan is well behind Booker in the polls. One recent poll gives Booker a 22-point lead over the conservative candidate, who has Tea Party support.

The election for Senate is Wednesday.
