City Hall will be closed and all non-emergency Newark municipal services will be suspended on Tuesday, Dec. 25, in observance of Christmas Day. Police, fire, and other uniformed emergency services will be unaffected.
Trash pickups that would normally occur on Tuesday, Dec. 25, will take place during the next normal collection day, Friday, Dec. 28. Residents should not put out their trash on Tuesday, Dec. 25, as doing so may result in a fine. On Friday, Dec. 28, their regular collection day, residents must place their refuse at their curbs for pickup by 6 am. Street-sweeping services will also be suspended during this time.
The Department of Child and Family Well-Being’s inspection services, transportation for seniors, and health clinic, will not operate on Tuesday, Dec. 25. In addition, the Bureau of Vital Statistics will be closed.
The Municipal Court will also be closed on Christmas Day. However, a judge will be available to preside over bail hearings for defendants in custody.
