Report: Booker Has Made Millions Since the Late 1990s

Mayor earned income from former law firm, speaking engagements and other sources

Mayor Cory Booker has earned more than $4 million since 1998, earning income from speaking engagements, his partnership in a law firm and other sources, NJ.com reported.  He has paid about $1 million in taxes and reportedly donated more than half a million to charity.


Booker has earned more than $1.3 million in speaking engagements, many at colleges and universities, where he earned between $10,000 and $40,000 per appearance, NJ.com reported. In the previous two years alone, he made more than $750,000 from appearances. Booker has also voluntarily taken a pay cut on his mayoral salary, to $124,000 annually from nearly $150,000.


Booker also has a stake in the online company Waywire he co-founded worth an estimated $1 to $5 million.

Booker is a candidate for US Senate and is running in a special election next month. He is favored to beat his Republican challenger, Steve Lonegan. Booker has challenged Lonegan to release his financial information to reporters as Booker has done.
