Zuckerberg Raising Money for Christie

Facebook founder, Newark schools benefactor back in Jersey mix

NEWARK, NJ -- Say what you will about Mark Zuckerberg, but the youthful Facebook billionaire certainly seems to have a soft spot for the Garden State.

Media outlets reported Thursday that Zuckerberg and his wife will hold a fundraiser for Gov. Chris Christie at their California home Feb. 13. The tough-talking Republican governor, who angered many in his party by praising President Obama’s response to Hurricane Sandy, has already announced his intention to seek reelection in 2013.

Another Zuckerberg pal, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, last year announced he would not be seeking the seat, but plans instead to run for US Senate. Zuckerberg donated $100 million to the city’s schools in 2010 after he and Booker bonded at a West Coast conference.  Booker, Zuckerberg and Christie announced the donation on the Oprah Winfrey show.
