ECC Women's Center Offering Classes Beginning February

Sessions include instruction on entrepreneurship, teaching certification and more

The Women’s Center at Essex County College has scheduled several workshops and seminars that will begin in February. All classes are held at the center on the main Newark campus, 303 University Ave.

    Anger Management Workshop is a four session program designed to help participants understand and control anger. The workshop is for people 18 and older. The class will meet Tuesdays, starting Feb. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuition is $80.

    How to Write a Business Plan is a three session class focusing on examining critical components of a plan for both new and expanding businesses. Participants will learn about numerous strategies designed to successfully operate a business. The class will meet Saturdays, starting Feb. 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuition is $150.

     So You Want to be an Entrepreneur is a free, one evening session Feb. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m.  Learn how to focus on what it takes to start your own business, including financial aspects, and how your business idea can turn into reality.

Windows with Word – Intermediate is a 10 session hands-on next step to Windows and Microsoft Word. Upon successful completion of the course, students will have a working knowledge of Windows and be able to create various documents using Microsoft Word. The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting Feb. 18, from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. Total cost of the course is $165.

  Alternate Route to Becoming a Teacher is a one session class that will provide the requirements and steps necessary for both substitute and Alternate Route or Provisional certification which may lead to a permanent teaching certificate. The class will meet Feb. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $20.

    How to Start Your Own Day Care Center is a four session course that provides information from starting up to successfully maintaining and operating a day care center. The class will meet Mondays, starting Feb. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost of the course is $95.  

    Business Formation is a two session course that will cover the advantages and disadvantages of how to develop a small business, whether a sole proprietorship, corporation, L.L.C. or limited partnership is the way to go. The class will meet Feb. 24 and March 3, 6 to 8 p.m. both evenings. Cost of the course is $55.

    Social Media for Small Business is a three hour workshop on how to better leverage social media networks to create new opportunities and reach more customers. The workshop will be held February 26 from 6 to 9 p.m.Tuition is $30.

      Public Speaking with Confidence is a one session class Feb. 27 that explores the importance of communicating effectively as well as expressing one’s self with style and clarity in any situation. The class will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuition is $20.
