Experts Visit Ridge Street School to Promote Dental Care

February is National Children's Dental Health Month

Horizon NJ Health, a subsidiary of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, visited the Ridge Street School last week to raise awareness about dental health for children.

“Our team of health educators will go into the schools to teach children the importance of good dental hygiene habits, such as brushing, flossing, regular dental visits and proper nutrition,” said Philip M. Bonaparte, M.D., Vice President, Clinical Affairs/Chief Medical Officer, Horizon NJ Health.

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month and is anchored by the American Dental Association’s Give Kids A Smile program.

In conjunction with National Children’s Dental Health Month, Horizon NJ Health is sponsoring a poster contest geared to assist children to understand the importance of proper dental care. The theme of this year’s contest is “Rock Your Smile” and it is open to all students who attended the education dental program. Winners will be announced on Feb. 28.

"The poster contest is an effective way for students to focus on the importance of good oral health and tooth decay prevention in a fun and expressive manner. We hope every student in the schools will participate," continued Bonaparte.
