Newark Mayor Cory Booker to Deliver FDU Commencement Speech

Mayor, top New York Times editor and Minnesota Vikings owner to receive honorary doctorates.

 Mayor Cory Booker has been selected as Fairleigh Dickinson University's commencement speaker, the University said Tuesday. 

Booker will receive an honorary doctorate during FDU's 69th Commencement May 15 at the IZOD Center, according to the school. New York Times Executive Editor Jill Abramson and Minnesota Vikings owner and FDU alum Zygmunt “Zygi” Wilf will also receive honorary degrees. 

The school will present Student Pinnacle Awards to Morrine Omolo from the campus in Teaneck, Jessica Dingman from the College at Florham campus and Juliana Fiorentino from FDU-Vancouver.

FDU's Class of 2012 represents students from 50 countries, including the United States, and all 21 New Jersey counties. More than 2,000 students will receive doctoral, master's, bachelor's and associate degrees. 

The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and be broadcast live online starting at 8 a.m. More information is available at fdu.edu
