Newark Tech Track Team Earns Championship Rings

Vo-tech school has strong showing at 2013 nationals

On Jan. 2 the track team at Newark Tech received their national championship rings awarded by USA Track and Field for the team’s strong showing at the National Indoor Championships held in Landover, Md., in March. Presenting the rings with Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo (back row, left) were (in front row) Lionel Leach from the USATF (fifth from left) and Essex County Newark Tech Vice Principal Ayisha Ingram-Robinson (in front row at right) and (in back row from third from left) Freeholder Rufus Johnson, Freeholder Gerald Owens and Newark Tech Principal Oge Denis, Jr. The student-athletes receiving the rings were (in front from left) Brionna Singleton, Jalissa Hayes, Natalia Hinton, Tannia Wilkerson and Aquil Young, and (In back row from left) Jasmine Jones, Ledena Baytops and Isaiah Campbell. Not present were students Nas Jones, Keir Minor and Nhemie Theodore.
