Newark residents upset with Mayor Cory Booker & City over tree clean-up prior to Hurricane Sandy

Newarkers complain of lack of response for diseased tree clean-up prior to Hurricane Sandy

In Newark's North Ward residents complained of the lack of city cooperation with tree removal prior to Hurricane Sandy. Columbia Daniels says she had been calling City Hall for months to no avail in getting her diseased tree cut down. During the hurricane the tree finally snapped and broke in half damaging her second floor siding.

Another resident on the block Alvina Gopee was clearly annoyed at the response from Mayor Cory Booker. "The city really needs to get up their game" said Gopee She continued,"Cory Booker needs to start helping the seniors and elderly". Gopee also noted that she had been trying to help Daniels for a year, but got no response from City Hall. She said the tree had been diseased and was in danger of falling down. "It's a shame that seniors can't get any help from City Hall".

In other post Hurricane Sandy news, long lines at gas stations, continue to take it's toll on North Ward residents as well as residents all across the state. At the Hess gas station on Park Avenue on Wednesday night the lines wrapped all the way through Branch Brook Park to Barringer High School. We were told that soon as all the gas was sold-out they would close.
