Ballantine Green Festival an Ironbound Hit

First annual fest promotes green living

More than 200 people joined in on the push for greener living last month at the first annual Ballantine Green Festival, hosted by the Ironbound Community Corporation.

Festival-goers learned about improving quality of life through recycling and composting and could turn in old televisions, electronics, batteries and rugs at the "Eco Village," where other informational programs on green living were held.

"Although this educational festival was held in the month of April when we celebrate Earth Day, we are committed to our vision and will throughout the year, place emphasis on the importance of 'green living,'" said Joseph Della Fave, executive director of the Ironbound Community Corporation, of the festival held April 14 in Newark's Ironbound neighborhood.
