Chess for Success in Newark

This is an educational program that uses chess to teach children high-level thinking and social skills. Studies show that chess improves aptitude, cognition, decision-making, strategy, planning, and focus.

Young people love playing and learning alongside mentors and this program fosters a space for fun and structured learning while developing critical life-skills.

Join us in mentoring a child through the game of chess. If you don’t know how to play but want to learn, join us. We will teach volunteers the fundamentals of the game prior to the student’s arrival.
