Woodland Cemetery Board of Managers Revives Friends and Family Group

The Woodland Cemetery Board of Managers held a public meeting on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the New Jersey Historical Society in Newark. At the meeting, the Friends and Family of Woodland Cemetery, a group established over 30 years ago, was revived and is now being led by the Woodland Cemetery Board of Managers with the help of Councilman Darrin Sharif.

The Friends and Family of Woodland Cemetery will help coordinate the efforts of volunteers to assist with the revitalization of the cemetery. The Board of Managers is seeking help from members of the local community, elected officials, individuals with family members buried in the cemetery, and anyone interested in helping with the restoration effort. Volunteering is an excellent way to improve your local community or help maintain the final resting place of your ancestors. Those interested in joining Friends and Family of Woodland Cemetery should contact Dan Silva, Vice President of the Board of Managers, at dsilva@woodlandcemeterynnj.org.

The Woodland Cemetery Board of Managers is also pleased to launch the Woodland Cemetery Blog on the Newark Patch. Subscribe to receive updates on volunteer activities, notice of fundraisers and public meetings, and be the first to hear about cemetery news.
