Newark Bears, Neighbor

The Newark Bears are an independent professional baseball team located in Newark, N.J. The Bears are a member of the Can-Am League.

The team was originally founded in 1917. A member of the International League, the Bears were a minor league affiliate of the New York Yankees from 1932-1949. The franchise was later moved to Springfield, Mass. in 1950.

A rebirth of the Newark Bears took place in 1998, when they joined the independent Atlantic League. In 1999, baseball officially returned to Newark, as Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium opened.

"The Den" is located at 450 Broad St., Newark, N.J.
