More Star Power Stumping For Booker

Eva Longoria to campaign for Booker on Monday.

Actress Eva Longoria is scheduled to campaign in New Jersey for Newark Mayor Cory Booker in his bid to become New Jersey's junior U.S. Senator.

Longoria, best known for her role on the television show "Desperate Housewives,'' will stump with Booker on Monday in Plainfield before heading to Newark for an election eve rally, the Booker campaign said.

Previously, Oprah Winfrey has lent her name to Booker's campaign holding a closed dinner at an exclusive Jersey City restaurant.

Booker on Thursday night also unveiled his campaign bus outside his Newark campaign headquarters. The mayor's bus tour will stop in 10 New Jersey counties running up to the Aug. 13 special primary election.

Booker is vying for the Democratic nomination for a U.S. Senate seat against U.S. Reps. Rush Holt (D-12) and Frank Pallone (D-6) and state Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver (D-34). The winner will face the Republican nominee -- either Steve Lonegan, former Bogota mayor or Alieta Eck, a Somerset County physician -- in a special general election on Oct. 16.
