New Newark Restaurant Opening a Sports Star-Studded Event

New York Giants, Knicks and Brooklyn Nets players to help open restaurant Elbow Room Tuesday on Newark's Halsey Street

Newark is making a little space for Elbow Room, a new Halsey Street restaurant with "a touch of Southern attitude."

The restaurant, at 41 Halsey St., will offer down-home dishes with a contemporary twist, like macaroni and cheese and other comfort foods.

The joint's grand opening Tuesday will be a star-studded event, with New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck, former Giant Michael Strahan, Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams and New York Knicks guard Jason Kidd joining restaurateur Joel Bolden in celebrating Elbow Room's second location.

"Elbow Room will remind you of home and the comforting meals you loved as a child," the restaurant's website reads, "but we know that you've got grown up tastes now and our macs will excite even the most sophisticated palate."

Bolden's Elbow Room can also be found inside the brand new Barclays Center in Brooklyn's Prospect Heights. The location's menu features savory bites like quasi funded (chorizo, oaxaca cheese, pickled jalapeno served with tortilla chips) and cheeseburger mac and cheese.
